International Womens Day: Investing in the Power of Hope

Imagine a world where every woman has the opportunity to unlock her full potential and create a better life for herself and her family.

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate all the incredible women we partner with, across nations and continents, who inspire us every day to believe in a better future.

Our film Investing in the Power of Hope features four remarkable women who have overcome hardships like stigma, inequality and lack of formal education, to build livelihoods that support their families.

The film features Sokhina, a single mother from Bangladesh who was able to send her daughter to college, an opportunity she never had.

Mary lives in Uganda. She survived HIV, overcame stigma, and became a village leader to help others in her community.

Victoria from Tanzania invested in her tailoring business and built her dream home.

Vexter lives in Liberia and she has built a successful business from a small tea shop that she started when she was 18.

Since the founding of BRAC in Bangladesh in 1972, we have believed that with the right resources and opportunities, people living in poverty can transform their lives, families and communities. By investing in the power of hope we can build an equitable world where everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential.

We hope these stories inspire you, as much as they inspire us. By placing women at the heart of our work, we aim to bring lasting change and build an equitable world.
