URGENT: Donation Appeal for BRAC Pakistan’s Flood Relief & Rehabilitation Work
BRAC Pakistan has launched a £1.6m emergency appeal to provide relief and rehabilitation assistance to the flood victims in Pakistan. With devastating flash flooding and ensuing rainfalls, more than 1,000 people have died and 3 million have been affected with thousands homeless and stranded. BRAC has decades of experience in delivering emergency flood relief in Bangladesh and is now using this to help the affected communities in Pakistan, where we have been working since 2007.
Our relief teams are operating on the ground to assist the victims in the worst affected areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province - including Peshawar and Nowsherra. We are in the process of distributing relief packages with food rations and oral saline packs to up to 4,000 families. Our medical team has set up a medical camp in Nowshera Kalan with health workers and volunteers providing emergency healthcare and disbursing medicines to the affected persons.
BRAC Pakistan is putting in tremendous efforts to gather funds and donations for relief work in the area to provide relief and rehabilitation to support 5,000 households (35,000 people). Activities will also include an employment programme to deliver essential repairs to houses, sanitation, and local infrastructure. The relief programme will target the victims in the most affected areas of Nowsherra, Charsadda and Peshawar in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
